  FAQ

  • How do I care for my Down Dog Bag?
We recommend that you use a nail grinder to trim your dogs nails. We use a slightly thicker ripstop nylon to create the bags compared to the human variety. However the material is still lightweight and therefore somewhat delicate, so we recommend grinding as it does not leave sharp edges that nail clippers do. We cannot offer any returns, exchanges, or refunds for any damage done because of your dog’s nails.
  • How do I wash it?
Wash your bag just as you would any down coat. Used down specific wash such as Nikwax, and tumble dry low heat with a clean tennis shoe or tennis balls.
  • How much do they weigh???
This is the question we get the most. Each bag is custom made for every dog's length, so the short answer is it depends. Final weight is multifactorial - it depends on your dog's length (and girth for the quilts), the fabric chosen, and the down fill. See below for average bags/quilts without any fabric or down upgrades: QUILT: XS: ~4oz S: 4-5oz M: 5-6oz L: 6-7oz XL: 7-8oz BAG: XS: 6-9oz S: 9-12oz M: 12-14 oz L: 15-16 oz XL: 16+ oz
  • Is it durable?
These are high-quality down products. We primarily work with 10D and 20D fabrics. They are not meant to be placed directly on the ground like other manufactures' versions of dog beds that are synthetic. They are meant to be used inside your tent. If you plan to place your dog’s bed on the ground, we recommend either using a separate footprint (coming soon), foam sleeping pad, or choosing the model that allows for insertion of a foam sleeping pad (sold separately). We will also do custom orders with thicker fabrics if desired.
  • Are there any downsides to using down for my dog?
Yes. Down does not insulate when it is wet. If you are going on a water adventure, we highly recommend drying your dog before allowing them to use the bag, or using a synthetic bag liner.
  • Why are they so dang expensive?
Yes, our bags are expensive compared to the synthetic versions our competitors produce. We use a minimum of 700 fill down (850 and 900 also available) and technical fabrics that are made specifically for high-end outdoor gear. On top of the materials cost, each sleeping bag is made by hand in Oregon - and takes approximately 6 to 8 hours to plan and construct.
  • What is your return policy?
As these are custom items, returns are not accepted. Exchanges for a different size are accepted for unused undamaged items with 14 days of purchase, minus a 20% restocking fee.  Buyer is responsible for all return shipping costs and insurance if desired.  Please return all items in original cardboard box and packaging. Do not ship in soft packaging as this puts the item at risk for puncture/damage with shipping handling services. If you have any other questions, please reach out.  We want you to be thrilled with your products and strive to make your dog happy.
